Mozilla Firefox version 2.0.0.12 has been released despite the fact that Mozilla is now focused on Firefox 3 development. Perhaps the main reason is that most of Firefox users are either using version 2.0.0.10 or the Firefox 3.0 BETA 1 since majority of version 2.0.0.11 installation keeps on crashing.

Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.12 fixes the following security holes:

  • Web forgery overwrite with div overlay
  • URL token stealing via stylesheet redirect
  • Mishandling of locally-saved plain text files
  • File action dialog tampering
  • Web browsing history and forward navigation stealing
  • Directory traversal via chrome: URI
  • Stored password corruption
  • Privilege escalation, XSS, Remote Code Execution
  • Multiple file input focus stealing vulnerabilities
  • Crashes with evidence of memory corruption (rv:1.8.1.12)
