If Dell has Latitude XFR D630 fully rugged laptop, DRS Tactical Systems has DRS ARMOR C12, a rugged convertible notebook which provides great mobility features with its lightweight design and ability to quickly transform from a tablet to a compact notebook computer.

The DRS ARMOR C12 packs a 12.1-inch outdoor readable touchscreen, 1.2GHz ULV U1400 CPU, 512MB of DDR2 RAM, a 60GB shock-mounted HDD, full-sized keyboard, integrated Wi-Fi (LAN), Ethernet, and a Type II PCMCIA slot providing multiple communications options and a biometric scanner.

The DRS ARMOR C12 is designed, manufactured and qualified to meet military specifications (MIL-STD-810F) just like Dell XFR D630 and Panasonic Toughbook. The DRS ARMOR C12 is tested for drop-shock, moisture, dust and vibration resistance, temperature extremes as well as other demanding conditions mobile workers face daily in the field, on the road or in the office.

Housed in a die-cast magnesium case, the ARMOR C12 provides IP 54 level protection from dust, dirt, water and other damaging elements.
