Western Digital unveiled its Caviar SE16 640GB 3.5-inch hard drives based on 320 GB-per-platter technology.

The 640GB size may no longer be an exciting news since other disk manufacturers have been offering 1TB disks for quite sometime now. However, Western Digital’s jump from 250GB to 320GB per platter technology promises a lot of potential in the future. Western Digital’s 3.5-inch Caviar SE16 disks has a 3Gb/s SATA interface, 16MB of cache built in, and are available for $139.99
