Hooorrrraaayyyy! The penguin has started calling! Why wait for Google Android when Freerunner is already here?

FreeRunner is Openmoko’s Linux-based smartphone designed to encourage third-party modification and customization. The handset is completely open in both hardware and software. While the FreeRunner’s software platform is still incomplete, the device has attracted attention from mobile software developers and Linux enthusiasts. In fact, it was launched  last Friday but the 900MHz version has sold out and the demand is still high.

OCZ has announced its support for the impending Intel Centrino 2 mobile platform with the launch of their DDR3 SODIMM Laptop Memory for High-End Mobile Systems. OCZ says that their DDR3 SODIMMs are built to provide optimal compatibility using the highest quality components by using sophisticated screening and hand-testing to deliver exceptional system performance.

The PC3-10666 and PC3-8500 memory modules  feature latencies of 9-9-9-24 and 8-8-8-27 respectively and will be available in 2GB and 4GB (2×2048MB) dual-channel kits to make your laptop more productive. OCZ announced that their DDR3 SODIMM memory modules for notebooks help reduce power consumption and increase speed and bandwidth, resulting in a higher performing laptop with a slightly extended battery life.

Firefox 3 Final has been launched and has already been downloaded more than 2 million times 5 hours after the launch.

Samsung’s iPhone killer, the i900 Omnia is the first Mobile-based DivX certified Windows Mobile Smartphone on the market and the fourth Samsung mobile to achieve DivX Certification.

The i900 Omnia is based on Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro and features 8GB/16GB of internal memory with a micro SD slot, a WideQVGA display (240 x 400 pixels), an optical mouse, TV-Out feature giving users the option where to watch their video files, and a 5-megapixel auto focus camera with face and smile detection plus auto-panorama shot. Geotagging is also among the camera features because of its built-in GPS receiver.

DivX technology enables a high-quality media experience in which video content can be seamlessly transferred from the PC to the mobile environment and beyond.

Today’s much awaited mobile phone, the Sony ericsson XPERIA X1 has received minor changes to its appearance. The most noticeable changes are XPERIA X1’s new color which is called ‘Steel Silver’ and the ‘XPERIA’ branding under the screen (see image below). The button to activate the panel interface has also changed. However, it is still unknown if changes in the software have been made.

Other features of Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 include Windows Mobile 6.1, a 3.2 mega pixel camera, a custom interface, slide out keyboard, and WiFi and 3G. The much awaited mobile phone’s rumored launch is on September, although this is not yet confirmed.
