Kingston, a world leader in memory products is now offering 32GB SDHC memory cards. The company is now shipping 32GB Elite Pro SDHC Flash memory cards for digital video camcorders and other high-resolution imaging devices. The new 32GB card is the largest capacity in Kingston’s Elite Pro line of SDHC cards, which currently includes 4-, 8- and 16GB capacities. The new card offers a FAT 32 file format, a transfer speed of 4MBps, measures 24 x 32 x 2.1 mm and is compliant with the SD Card Association 2.00 specifications.
The Kingston 32GB Elite Pro SDHC is now available in the US at $308.

Indilinx, a semiconductor maker has announced “Barefoot”, a solid state drive controller with 90-nanometer process technology. Allegedly the “fastest in the market”, barefoot is capable of 230MBps of read/write speed and supports the capacity up to 512GB with multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash.
The controller supports multiple types of flash memory from Samsung, Toshiba, Hynix and Micron using SATA 2.0 Mass production of the Barefoot is planned for the fourth quarter of 2008.

Micron announced updates to its RealSSD lineup of Solid State Drives (SSD) . The RealSSD P200 and C200 will be available later this year.
The 2.5-inch RealSSD P200 which is based on Micron’s SLC (Single-Level Cell) NAND technology will offer up to 128GB storage capacity with a standard 3Gbps Serial ATA (SATA) interface.
The RealSSD C200 which is available in 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch forms are based on Micron’s MLC (Multi-Level Cell) NAND process technology. The 2.5-inch version will have a maximum capacity of 250GB while the 1.8-inch version will have a maximum capacity of 128GB. The two versions use a standard 3Gbps Serial ATA (SATA) interface.
The RealSSD P200 and C200 offer a read speed of up to 250Mbps and a write speed of up to 100Mbps which are very fast compared to SSDs currently available in the market.
SSDs are now being used in netbooks and sub-notebooks because they are more power-efficient and generate less heat compared to traditional hard drives.

Hitachi announced two new CinemaStar hard drive models. The new 3.5-inch hard drives are the CinemaStar 7K1000.B and the CinemaStar 5K320 which are intended to be used in digital video recorders (DVRs). The CinemaStar 7K1000.B is available up to 1TB capacity, while the CinemaStar 5K320 has 320GB storage capacity.
The 5K320 uses CoolSpin technology which Hitachi claims is one of the most power efficient and quiet hard drive available in the market today. CoolSpin technology consists of a motor that is speed optimized for low power and quiet operation.
Hitachi says that the 1TB CinemaStar 7K1000.B can store up to 247 hours of MPEG-4 encoded high definition video and support up to ten simultaneous data streams. The CinemaStar 7K1000.B will be available in August and the 5K320 will ship in September.
