A Trojan, known as “iPhone firmware 1.1.3 prep“, or “113 prep” is technically the first Trojan for the iPhone. However, it appears to be more of a prank than an actual threat. Once the Trojan is installed it simply displays the word “shoes.”

The Trojan overwrites legitimate iPhone applications such as Erica’s Utilities, Launcher, Doom, and OpenSSH. This means that if you uninstall the Trojan, you will have to re-install these applications in your iPhone.

Antivirus vendor F-Secure posted in its blog, “This time it was an 11-year-old kid playing with XML files who created the Trojan. Next time it might be someone else with more skills and with specific target.

So if your friends are telling you that their iPhones are totally virus free and safe, tell them to eat their words.

:D
