AudioCodes, traditionally known for their Media Gateway, Media Server and Session Border Controller solutions, has joined the IP phone bandwagon with the release of their 300HD IP-Phone Series that supports wideband codecs for superior sound quality.

The 300HD IP Phone series includes three new IP-Phones namely; the 310 HD, an entry level IP Phone that comes with a basic display, the 320HD, a premium endpoint that comes with a larger screen, and the 350HD executive phone that comes with a color LCD screen.

The 300HD IP Phone series IP phones  are based on AudioCodes VoIPerfect software and are all SIP-based, making them compatible with today’s leading IP-PBXs.

Wideband audio is gaining momentum in the VoIP industry and many vendors are now supporting G.722 wideband audio codec in their products.

snom has launched the snom 820, an an elegant and attractive SIP-based business VoIP phone.

The snom 820 features a high-resolution TFT color display that makes it easy for the users to view data through the XML browser.

It supports WiFi standard 802.11 and provides high-end sound quality and voice clarity which give users a feeling that they are talking to a person in the same room.

The snom 820 is equipped with the usual business functions like support for three-way conference calls, multiple ring tones and twelve different SIP identities per phone.  It has a VPN capability and supports SRTP and TLS security standards that help prevent recording and sniffing of VoIP data over the network.

Jazinga, a Canada based group of Internet and telephony veterans and entrepreneurs who believed that the traditional telephony systems needed to join the 21st century, has launched  an IP-PBX targeting the small business market.

The Do-It-Yourself (DIY) VoIP Appliance with simplified installation and configuration combines the features of a corporate telephone systems with wireless networking, fax and e-mail. The Jazinga IP-PBX includes features like auto attendant, voicemail, call conferencing, call-forwarding and music on hold.

The Jazinga IP PBX is available through channel partners for $1,095.

In a sign that ASUS is not stopping from delivering IT products aside from hot netbooks, ASUS has unveiled the world’s first Skype-Certified videophone called the AiGuru SV1.

The AiGuru SV1 videophone makes video calls easily by eliminating the need of a PC, allowing users to make unlimited VoIP calls right on the device, seeing the other party on the line in a 7-inch LCD display with 800×480 resolution. Other features include an  integrated webcam with 640×480 resolution and a WiFi connectivity.  The AiGuru can be connected to an Ethernet via router or it can accept connection via 802.11 b/g wireless. It has a rechargeable battery that can last for 20 minutes. Unfortunately, the device weighs 1.6 kilograms making it unsuitable for mobile operation.

The ASUS AiGuru SV1 will be on sale this October for about $299.
